The aim of the production of wood-based panels is to overcome the disadvantages of naturally-grown timber, e.g. swelling and shrinking movements, as well as conserving and improving the generally positive characteristics of wood. Apart from freshly harvested timber, also industrial residues and used wood can be employed to manufacture wood-based panels, which thus guarantee a high percentage of utilization of the wood raw material.

Wood-based panels are manufactured from sawn timber, veneers, wood particles/strands or wood fibres of various timber species, with the admixture of natural or synthetic adhesives and – if required – other additives. The result are homogeneous products with optimised characteristics, which are used for furniture manufacturing and in construction.
